How To Bring Your Personality To Instagram
Let me be the first to tell you; your personality deserves a place on the stage. Instagram is growing by the second and businesses need to get comfortable with showing who they are. The one thing no one can duplicate is who you are as a person. Let's discuss the importance of self-expression and the humanization of brands on Instagram.
As more businesses transition to social media, Instagram specifically, there must be extensive research and consideration put into content creation. For some, this may be stressful due to the endless amounts of content on Instagram.
To put it simply, Instagram has allowed brands to not only sell a product or service but as well have the opportunity to build an entire community around their brand. I say "opportunity" because not everyone wants to personalize their brand and/or build a community. Which is completely fine. For those that have taken that opportunity, some have seen exponential growth on platforms like Instagram. From observation, you can see a pattern with successful and organically grown Instagram accounts.
Each of these accounts had a blatant strategy of self-expression and value-driven content. There was a clear representation of what the account offered and who was behind all the magic of the account. Since there was so much to get to know about the brand it made each account in that criterion like finding a new quick book to read. Businesses coming to Instagram should look at it like this.
Whatever you plan to offer or sell to your audience. Think about the passions you had behind this and how you want to express that passion to your audience. For example, explain more about your business on an Instagram IGTV or live. People will get a chance to see the person behind the brand and gain more trust in your business as a whole.
Be genuine when personalizing your business. People understand behavior and communication more than ever, pretending to be someone you are not will never work. That is not the point of personalizing your business and will not develop a platform of longevity. That leads to the last point which is humanization.
Humanization is a quick note I wanted to mention. Every business you see on Instagram has a human being responsible for it. Respect the space of accounts on Instagram and remember that you are a human worthy of a platform too! Let that reminder motivate you to get comfortable with being yourself on Instagram.
Here three things you can do right NOW to bring your personality on Instagram:
Reveal your face on your story or feed.
Do a Q&A on your story, feed, or live stream.
Create an “About Me” Reel.
A simple bonus one! Starting making sure that your comments under others' posts sound like you. This is an easy way to step into your personality on social media. It is good to maintain professionalism, but your personality can still shine through in those moments.
Overall, Instagram is going to evolve as more businesses make their way to the platform to grow. Considering that and the leverage our personalities have on anyone that is not ourselves is something you cannot argue. Instead, see where you can utilize this leverage.
